NASHVILLE, Tenn.—Spring Hill/Nine North recording artist Jason Crabb took home two GMA Dove Awards last night, following a series of high profile performances during Dove Week. Crabb’s crossover country single, “Somebody Like Me,” penned by Songwriter of the Year nominees Neil Thrasher and Michael Boggs, was named Country Recorded Song of the Year at the 41st Annual GMA Dove Awards, while Crabb also took home a Dove for his participation in the multi-artist Special Event Album of the Year, Glory Revealed II: The Word of God in Worship.
Crabb, who received a total of six Dove Award nominations, was one of the top artist nominees this year. He received nominations for Artist of the Year and Male Vocalist of the Year, as well as Country Album of the Year for Jason Crabb (as both artist and producer).
During the show, Crabb and acclaimed Gospel recording artist Donald Lawrence and Company performed Andraé Crouch’s “My Tribute,” in a segment honoring Crouch’s pioneering impact on Christian music. In addition, Crabb and his siblings reunited as Southern Gospel’s famed Crabb Family for a medley tribute to 100 years of Southern Gospel music. The set included their signature song, “Through the Fire,” as well as performances from The Blackwood Brothers, The Booth Brothers and The Perrys. The Crabb Family also joined legendary country and bluegrass recording artist Ricky Skaggs for a performance of "Someday Soon" later in the evening.
Earlier this week, Crabb delivered a four-song set at the “Dog & Pony Show” Dove Week showcase. The musically-diverse event also featured Collin Raye, Rachael Lampa, Regie Hamm and Everlife, among other artists. Crabb also appeared at the Southern Gospel Music Guild’s Harmony Honors, where he performed “Somebody Like Me."
Crabb’s critically-acclaimed, best-selling self-titled debut released last year and won the GRAMMY® Award earlier this year for Best Southern/Country/Bluegrass Gospel Album. Produced by Tommy Sims, Norro Wilson and Crabb, the project was also named Country Album of the Year at the SoGospelNews Awards, presented last week.
The 41st Annual GMA Dove Awards were held at Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry House and will be televised nationwide on gmc this Sunday, April 25 at 8 pm EST.
